When you opened My PC, did you feel the coldness because the folder list didn’t appear right away when you saw it on the white screen? Then, were you sad to see the Not Responding letters when you clicked it?

It’s a problem that I’ve been experiencing recently.

From what I searched while solving the problem, I’m going to write down a few words about the cause and solution.

System File Corruption Cause – Solution

Windows system files might be corrupted.

So the solution is to run commands that repair corrupted files. It’s recovered and some of the no-response problems have been improved, so there’s no way to be as neat as the format,

However, let’s try the following first. Here’s how it works.

Open the command prompt(2) from Run to cmd(1), and execute with administrator privileges(3)(4). Afterwards, run two commands for troubleshooting(5) at the command prompt.

Run each set of commands, reboot and check for troubleshooting.

And decide whether to proceed with the next command or method.

Command 1 – Dism…

restorehealth and sfc are commands that inspect and repair system corruption files.

Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sfc /scannow

After running, reboot PC.

Command 2 – bcdedit…

Hasn’t it been resolved yet?

Try disabling the Windows Dynamic Tick feature.

bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

The Dynamic Tick feature in Windows is used to reduce computer power consumption.

Sometimes, the Dynamic Tick feature seems to create a Not-Responding problem.

If it happened on a laptop where battery time was important, it would be a problem, right?
But, troubleshooting is a high priority.

For your information, the Dynamic Tick function stops the system timer when the user is not operating Windows.

I think it’s good to understand that the system timer is the same as a person’s heartbeat, which is the basis for Windows to do something on a regular basis or perform a reservation function.

After running, reboot PC.

Drive File Inaccessible Cause – Solution

If there is a problem with the file that should be displayed on the first screen of my computer, the problem of no response may occur.

  • In general, the first screen on my computer shows frequently used files and recently used files
  • A drive with files that should be displayed is unavailable, or in poor condition causes unresponsive problems, which can be a network drive, or a physically damaged disk.

So, disabling those files is the main thing.

Disable display of my computer’s first screen, recently used files, folders

In Run, open the File Explorer option and disable the display of recently used files and folders in Favorites in the Privacy section of (1)(2)(3)(5), General tab (4). And erase the record. (6)

Find the cause’s drive

Try running your own drive, starting with c:\ in Run.

If a window appears as soon as you click OK, the drive is OK. If it takes time or is dead, the drive may be the cause of the unresponsive problem.

Found the culprit drive, which may be a physically connected drive. It could be due to poor physical contact, so I disassembled the PC and separated the disk I think it would be a good idea to try it on again.

In my case, SSD contact failure was the cause of the problem.

If your network drive (internal shared drive, cloud such as One Drive or Google Drive) is the culprit, disconnecting or deleting cloud software can also help solve the problem.
